Washington, D.C. – U.S. officials yesterday acknowledged a Chinese spy balloon was spotted flying over Montana near a nuclear reactor site. Chairman McCaul has requested a briefing from the Biden administration on the balloon and specifics behind why it has not been removed from U.S. airspace.

“U.S. officials have acknowledged they were monitoring this balloon since it flew over the Aleutian Islands – where it could have easily been shot down over water,” stated Chairman McCaul. “This balloon should have never been allowed to enter U.S. airspace. Instead, the Biden administration allowed it to continue so that it now poses a direct and ongoing national security threat to the U.S. homeland, while at the same time threatening the privacy of every American. I am calling on the Biden administration to quickly take steps to remove the Chinese spy balloon from U.S. airspace.”
