McCaul Applauds UK Decision to Ban Huawei from 5G Networks

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael McCaul, Republican Leader on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement on the United Kingdom’s decision to ban Huawei from their 5G networks. 

“The Chinese Communist Party’s determination to control the future of 5G through their proxy company Huawei poses a significant threat. No country’s data is safe if Huawei or any CCP-linked company has control over it. I’m pleased to see the United Kingdom take the necessary steps today to begin to protect itself from high-risk vendors like Huawei further embedding themselves in their telecommunications infrastructure. I strongly encourage all European and other countries to follow the UK’s lead.”
