McCaul Applauds Passage of Save Our Seas 2.0
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael McCaul, Republican Leader on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the following statement applauding Senate passage of the Save Our Seas 2.0 Act, which included elements of his Partnering and Leveraging Assistance to Stop Trash for Cleaner Seas (PLASTICS) Act. The PLASTICS Act aims to reduce marine debris and plastic waste in the ocean.
“Eight million metric tons of plastic enters the oceans each year – the equivalent of a garbage truck full of plastic being dumped out every single minute. This legislation will help reduce the amount of waste in our oceans by supporting efforts to build the capacity of developing countries to manage their waste. We have a duty to protect future generations from the repercussions of today’s waste, and this is a strong step in that direction. I applaud the bipartisan work that went into this legislation and urge the President to sign without delay.”
