Washington, D.C. – Today, the House passed an amendment offered by House Foreign Affairs Committee Republican Leader and China Task Force Chairman Michael McCaul to H.R.7608, the Fiscal Year 2021 State, Foreign Operations, Agriculture, Rural Development, Interior, Environment, Military Construction, and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Act. This amendment provides an additional $25 million to the Countering Chinese Influence Fund and brings the total amount of funds for this effort closer to the FY2020 level. Below is a statement from Rep. McCaul on the passage.

“We are facing a generational threat from the Chinese Communist Party and it’s imperative we do more to counter them at home and abroad. I’m pleased my amendment providing an additional $25 million for the Countering Chinese Influence Fund was passed today by the House in a bipartisan manner. It’s vital we ensure our government has the resources needed to counter the CCP’s malign influence. I will continue to work with my Republican and Democrat colleagues in both the House and Senate on the challenge of our time.
