Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, spoke on the House floor in support of the bipartisan Department of State Operations and Embassy Security Authorization Act for FY 2014 (H.R. 2848). The legislation, a fiscally responsible State Department authorization bill to improve security at U.S. embassies and diplomatic facilities around the world, was introduced by Royce in July, passed by the Committee in August, and is now scheduled to be considered by the full House.

More than a decade has passed since the last State Department authorization was enacted into law.
