Chairman Royce Statement on U.N. Security Council Meeting on Aleppo
Washington, D.C. – House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) released the following statement on today’s U.N. Security Council meeting on Aleppo:
“Tonight more than 200,000 men, women and children are trapped in Aleppo, suffering in hellish conditions. They have no water, no food, and no access to medical care. Air strikes and barrel bombs pound away as Syrian regime forces, coordinated with Iranian and Hezbollah elements, assault the city.
“Words cannot express my disappointment with the U.N.’s inability to act. Russia’s continued obstructionism is absolutely shameful. I will continue to press for a new approach – starting with U.S. sanctions that deny vital resources to Assad’s war machine.”
