Washington, D.C. – House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) issued the following statement after Rep. Ted Poe (R-TX), Chairman of the Subcommittee on Terrorism, Nonproliferation, and Trade, announced that he will retire at the end of the 115th Congress:

“Ted has been a strong voice for common-sense solutions that keep America safe. His work to promote freedom, democratic principles and effective U.S. assistance has brought hope to persecuted and powerless people around the world. I wish Judge Poe the best, and I look forward to working with him during the remainder of his subcommittee chairmanship. We’ve still got much important work ahead, including legislation and oversight to counter ISIS, Iran, and other threats.”
