Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, issued the following statement on the ongoing negotiations regarding the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a trade initiative involving eleven other countries:

“Congress is focused on getting TPP right and understands that it will take more time for Ministers to address complex, 21st-century, issues. We should continue to strive for a high-standard, ambitious and comprehensive TPP agreement which would allow American companies to export more goods and services to some of the largest markets in the world. Currently, American companies face significant barriers to selling financial and information services, agricultural products, and manufactured goods to key markets such as Japan. I will continue to work with Ambassador Froman to try to secure a strong TPP that is good for the U.S. economy.”
