Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, issued the following statement regarding the recent events in Israel and the Palestinian territories:
 
“I vigorously condemn Hamas’ continued attacks against Israel, and support Israel’s use of all appropriate measures to protect its citizens. Given that some of the advanced missiles being fired against Israel are reportedly supplied by Iran, I call on the Administration to both publicly condemn Iran for providing these materials to Hamas, and call on President Abbas to affirmatively end Hamas participation in the Palestinian Authority.
 
“Only by confronting and marginalizing extremists can we create an environment conducive to peace, so that no parent—Israeli or Palestinian—will have to mourn the loss of a murdered child.”
