Washington, D.C. – Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) issued the following statement on the president’s nomination of Ambassador Mark Green to be USAID administrator:

“As a former member of our committee and U.S. ambassador to Tanzania, Mark Green has long worked to help developing countries grow out of their dependence on foreign assistance.  He is uniquely qualified to lead a modernized USAID with the authorities and resources necessary to ensure that U.S. interests overseas are advanced.

“I look forward to working with Mark to make USAID more efficient and effective so that it can continue the critical missions of promoting economic growth, saving lives, and promoting democracy and human rights.”
