Austin, TX — House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul issued the following statement after the release of the first group of hostages who were abducted by Hamas on October 7th. Chairman McCaul met with some family members of hostages while on a bipartisan, bicameral congressional delegation to Israel earlier this month, and also met with family members of hostages who visited Washington. The committee will host a roundtable featuring the family members of some of the hostages on Wednesday, November 29th at 2:00pm ET.

“I am relieved the first group of hostages has finally been returned to their families and loved ones. But hundreds of others are still held captive, their family members desperate to get them home. I call on Hamas to unconditionally and safely release all remaining hostages and remind any malign actors in the region: the United States continues to stand with our ally Israel in their fight to protect their country from further attacks and secure the safe release of all hostages.”
