Washington, D.C. – Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul issued the following statement following the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control’s (OFAC) implementation of sanctions on Chinese entities following the Putin regime’s unprovoked war of aggression and increasingly close cooperation between Putin and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).

“The unholy alliance rears its ugly head once again as our Treasury Department rightly designates Chinese companies for providing Chinese-manufactured weapons and technology to Russia. President Biden himself has said to his CCP counterparts that providing lethal support to Russia is a clear ‘redline’, and this designation demonstrates that this redline has now been crossed with the sale of Chinese unmanned arial vehicles (UAVs), ammunition, munitions, satellite imagery, and semiconductors to Russia. The U.S. and our allies must hold China accountable for its support of Putin’s genocide in Ukraine and stop pretending the CCP is a neutral broker who supports peace.”
