Chairman Royce on the hearing:  “Earlier this year, the Government Accountability Office, Congress’s investigative arm, issued a report documenting the unrealistic objectives, costly delays, and poor oversight that has hampered  USAID’s assistance efforts following Haiti’s devastating 2010 earthquake.  Moreover, it raised important questions about the commitment of the Haitian Government to addressing the underlying causes of its own political and economic challenges.  This hearing will examine USAID’s administration of reconstruction funding through the lens of the alarming GAO report.”
