Today on Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom,” Chairman Royce discussed the upcoming House vote on the bipartisan Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (H.R. 3364), which sanctions Iran, Russia, and North Korea for threatening U.S. national security. Below are video and key excerpts.

“Congress is playing its role here in terms of toughening and giving diplomatic leverage, and economic leverage, to the administration to use against these regimes…

“Believe me, these sanctions are going to have very real impact. Think for a minute in North Korea’s case – if we cut off all the hard currency going into North Korea, as we did back at a time, a decade ago, when we put the Banco Delta Asia sanctions on North Korea, it shut down their program. They didn’t have the hard currency to go forward. We need that kind of strength and action at this point in time…

“We’ve got to put pressure on…Russia, [which is] putting nuclear-tipped missiles into Eastern Europe. So, we have got to take action here – and we have a strong bill that will pass out with good bipartisan support, strong Republican support, into the Senate… hopefully the Senate will take it up soon.”
