During a meeting this afternoon with Tedros Adhanom, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) discussed the importance of Taiwan’s inclusion in the WHO. Taiwan, a model contributor to world health, has provided financial and technical assistance to improve the global health community.  Chairman Royce stressed that Taiwan’s exclusion only hurts global health.

NOTE: Chairman Royce is an original cosponsor of H.R. 3320, a bipartisan bill focused on promoting Taiwan’s participation in the World Health Organization.  Upon hearing that Taiwan may not be granted observer status at this year’s World Health Assembly, Chairman Royce sent a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Price to express his concern.
