ICYMI: McCaul Discusses Origins of COVID-19 Report on America This Week
Washington D.C. – Congressman Michael McCaul (R-TX), Republican Leader of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, joined America This Week with Eric Bolling to discuss his recent Origins of COVID-19 Report and the threat that the Chinese Communist Party poses to the U.S.
On his Origins of COVID-19 Report: “It basically reads like an indictment against the Chinese Communist Party. In the report, ‘The Origins of COVID-19’, we talk about the silencing of the doctors, the destruction of lab samples, and denial that it was human-to-human [transmission]. It could have been contained as an epidemic, and then because of their recklessness, it became a global pandemic. And Eric, we translated this document into Mandarin and then penetrated their firewall, getting it into mainland China where it went viral, and it ended up with President Xi’s spokesman denouncing the report and then a full, entire television hour dedicated to debunking the ‘McCaul Report.’ We’ve been raised probably 10 times in Beijing articles with their propagandists attacking the China Task Force and me personally.”
On the origin of the COVID-19 virus: “With respect to the lab, [we] will probably never know, Eric, because they destroyed all of the evidence. This was a complete cover-up and whitewash of the COVID-19 virus, and we want to get to the truth. They fear their own people more than they fear anything, and I think getting the truth to the people of China – mainland China – is their greatest fear.”
On holding the CCP accountable: “I think the biggest way they’re going to be held accountable – and there are a lot of sanctions we can issue – de-coupling the supply chain from China. Let the market punish them for what they did. And you’re seeing a lot of countries pulling out of China, including where I want to see the United States bringing manufacturing and jobs – particularly national security manufacturing – back to the United States.”
