Asia is a region beset by some of the world’s most aggressive cyber actors. It is truly a cyber security battlefield, which makes regional engagement imperative for promoting the preservation of global network functionality, and for establishing confidence building measures that foster trust and reliability. This hearing is an important opportunity to examine the evolving cyber threats in Asia, and to explore ways in which regional cooperation can build cyber security capacity and helps ensure that innovation flourishes alongside efforts to safeguard U.S. national security.”

Whether the solutions come through cooperation or coercion; from market forces or statecommand, will determine the tenor of international relations. The hearing will look at the economic aspects of geopolitical tensions that could threaten U.S. and allied security, and what America can do to protect its interests.”
