Chairman Mast Highlights Secretary Rubio’s Successful First Week at State Department
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Brian Mast issued the following statement congratulating Secretary of State Marco Rubio on a successful first week in office.
“Secretary Rubio has accomplished more in his first week as Secretary of State than his predecessor did in four years,” Chairman Mast said. “From gutting DEI to ensuring the American flag is the only one raised above U.S. Embassies abroad, Secretary Rubio is showing what America First foreign policy looks like.”
After four failed years under the Biden administration, Secretary Rubio inherited a State Department that had lost sight of its mission. Instead of protecting and promoting U.S. security and prosperity, Biden’s State Department focused on exporting radical ideology by funding LGBTI awareness programs and promoting atheism throughout the globe.
Secretary Rubio is righting the ship. He has put American interests back at the forefront of U.S. foreign policy.
In his first week in office, Secretary Rubio has:
· Implemented a One Flag Policy barring U.S. Embassies from flying any flag other than the American flag. The policy bans the display of flags representing highly politicized leftwing movements such as the pride flag or Black Lives Matter flags at U.S. government installations.
· Implemented a 90-day pause on foreign assistance to allow for a thorough review of programs for efficiency and consistency with U.S. foreign policy.
· Eliminated radical Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs throughout the State Department and placed top priority on performance and merit in hiring.
