McCaul, Rogers Statement on U.S.-Ukraine Bilateral Security Agreement
Washington, D.C. – Today, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-TX) and House Armed Services Committee Chairman Mike Rogers (R-AL) released the following statement in response to the U.S.-Ukraine bilateral security agreement.
“The Biden administration’s Ukraine policy has been plagued by half measures and hesitation – which has only prolonged Putin’s unprovoked war of aggression and signaled weakness to America’s enemies. Just like the administration’s platitudes about supporting Ukraine ‘for as long as it takes,’ the nonbinding bilateral security agreement demonstrates this administration is more focused on symbolic words of affirmation rather than strong, resolute action to end this war. With the funds Congress has already appropriated, the Biden administration must send Ukraine the weapons it needs to win, loosen restrictions on Ukraine’s ability to use those weapons against all legitimate targets in Russian territory, and immediately deliver the delayed congressionally-mandated strategy on how continued U.S. support will hasten a Ukrainian victory.”
Background: The national security supplemental required the Biden administration to submit a strategy to Congress by June 8th on how continued U.S. support will hasten a Ukrainian victory. The administration has yet to submit this mandated report.
