McCaul Statement on CCP Ban of US Chipmaker Micron
Washington, D.C. – House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul issued the following statement in response to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) banning certain Chinese companies from using microchips produced by Micron Technology.
“The CCP’s ban on Micron has nothing to do with Micron—or the security of its products. The ban demonstrates General Secretary Xi’s plan to use his market as a weapon to attack others. For the CCP trade and investment isn’t about economics, it’s about coercive power and leverage. The ban on Micron puts this truth on full display and it cannot go unaddressed. The Biden Administration and our allies and partners must make every act of coercion more costly to the CCP. I urge the administration to use the many authorities Congress has given it to hold the CCP accountable.
