Washington, D.C. – House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Ed Royce (R-CA) announced the following upcoming committee event:

Wednesday, November 14

Subcommittee Hearing: U.S. Department of State Counterterrorism Bureau: Ensuring Resources Match Objectives

2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 14, in 2172 Rayburn House Office Building

Subcommittee on Terrorism, Nonproliferation, and Trade
Rep. Ted Poe (R-TX), Chairman

Invited witness:

The Honorable Nathan Alexander Sales
Coordinator for Counterterrorism
Bureau of Counterterrorism and Countering Violent Extremism
U.S. Department of State

Chairman Poe on the hearing: “Extremist groups such as al-Qaeda and ISIS present enduring threats to our national security that require persistent vigilance. The State Department’s Counterterrorism Bureau plays a key role in coordinating our counterterrorism efforts across the U.S. government and with our allies abroad. With radical jihadist groups still a present danger, including Iran’s growing network of terrorist proxies, foreign assistance is just one of our many tools to keep Americans safe. This hearing will provide important oversight of the Department’s anti-terrorism assistance programs and ensure that American taxpayers are paying for programs that demonstrate measurable success against violent extremism.”
