Ros-Lehtinen Comments on Decision by Bush Administration to

Sanction Chinese, Russian, and North Korean Companies

(WASHINGTON) – U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Ranking Republican Member on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, commented today on the decision by the Bush Administration to sanction companies in China, Russia and North Korea for sales of missile technology and weapons goods to Iran and Syria:

"The timing of the President’s decision to impose sanctions under the Iran and Syria Nonproliferation Act comes on the heels of growing alarm about those nations unwilling or unable to restrain the sale of weapons related technologies to regimes seeking to develop nuclear weapons."

"Today’s decision illustrates the urgency of the threat and the range of options available to responsible nations committed to curbing the sale of weapons related technologies to pariah states."
